Bracklinn Falls Bridge Project
Callander Community Development Trust secured £108,900 early in 2010, for a bridge project at the fantastic Bracklinn Falls, to transform the Falls into a visitor destination of the highest order.
In 2008 the NPA commissioned a feasibility study which provided a basic design and approximate costs and this early work has led onto the successful funding applications to the Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER, Scottish Natural Heritage, and the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.
THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN PART FINANCED BY THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT AND EUROPEAN COMMUNITY FORTH VALLEY & LOMOND LEADER 2007-20013 PROGRAMME.
The building of the bridge at the side of the gorge has been completed by Strong Bridges of Crieff and on 8 October 2010 the bridge was inched across the gorge by hand on a temporary metal bridge to its final position.
The new Bracklinn Falls Bridge was jointly opened by John Snodin of CCDT and Dr Mike Cantlay of LL&TTNP on 16 November 2010. John Snodin thanked all people and organisations involved with the project including the land owners and funders for their generosity. Strong Bridges of Crieff have worked extremely hard to built a very iconic landmark at this beautiful location. LL&TTNP part funded the project but also facilitated the project and their Access Officer, Kenny Auld has been its driving force.
The bridge is not only a new destination in itself and a place to view the impressive cataracts but also can be utilised to create a series of circuits in the Callander area.
