Kite Decorating - Summer Term 2010

Kite Festival - Friday 24 September 2010, 1-3pm

Callander Community Development Trust have successfully secured a Scottsland Grant to stage a ‘Soaring above the Trossachs’ Kite Festival working with all the pupils of Callander Primary School and Nursery and celebrating the language of our landscape and the wonderful setting of our town.

St Kessog's Church in

Autumn. Callander Community Development Trust (CCDT) are gifting over 270 red, white and black kites to each and every pupil and nursery child in Callander Primary. As part of the summer term 2010 they will be working in class and decorating their kites inspired by the wonderful landscapes and wildlife of the Trossachs. Each child will be encouraged to write a message and share a dream on the kite tail.

The decorated kites are being judged at the end of term and Sir Walter Scott and ‘The Lady of the Lake’ will be joining the Directors of CCDT, and all the pupils, teachers and their families at their end of term assembly in Callander Kirk on Thursday 24th June to award the prizes at 11am.

The spectacular Soaring above the Trossachs Kite Festival will take place on Friday 24th September 2010 between 1 and 3pm. All the children will mount their kites on canes and there will be a procession from the primary school to the festival venue where the Kite Club of Scotland will entertain the children with large and small kites and then encouraging them each to fly their own.

The kite festival venue will be confirmed nearer the time but is likely to be the McLaren High School playing fields.
