Friends of St Kessog's

St Kessog's Church in Autumn.

It's the start of a promising new year! In response to the residents of Callander and the local community, we are beginning the process of acquiring St. Kessog's Church in Ancaster Square to be developed as a cultural and events centre.

This iconic building, designed in the Gothic style by Robert Baldie and built in 1883, is a landmark for everyone who has lived in or visited Callander, and now it is at the heart of the Town Plan for Callander's future. A public meeting in March 2008 agreed that St Kessog's is a focal point which must be retained as a key facility for residents and visitors, and that is what this appeal is all about.

A new organization, Friends of St. Kessog's, has been formed to continue community support for the re-development of St. Kessog's. We hope to compile a long list of friends from near and far who have ties with this beautiful building and an interest in its future.

Friends of St. Kessog's can contribute to its redevelopment by making a donation, and by volunteering their time in the St. Kessog's centre when it becomes functional.

Our goal is to raise at least £70,000 from Friends of St. Kessog's and other community donations. We have jump-started this fund with the £1000 award Callander received from the Calor Gas Village of the Year competition and a generous donation of £500 from Ken Dunn's Nationwide/Lottery Heritage Award. We also intend to host several fund-raising events during the next 24 months with the help of our new friends.

You are invited to become a Friend of St Kessog's by completing a donations form and sending it with your donation (cheques made out to Callander CDT Friends of St Kessog's) to CCDT Company Secretary, 10/b Leny Road, Callander, FK17 8BA.

To download a donations form please follow these links:

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your donation by Gift Aid. This will enable CCDT to claim an extra amount from HM Revenue and Customs for every £1 of your donation. Please consider doing this and sign and return the second page of the form along withyour donation.

Regular updates on fund raising and on redevelopment progress will appear on this page. Please help if you can. Thank you very much indeed for your consideration.
