There are over 300 Development Trusts in Scotland, operating in both rural and urban areas. They are independent, but work with the public sector, private businesses and with other community groups. They are community ‘anchor’ organisations, delivering services and facilities, finding solutions to local problems and helping other organisations and initiatives succeed. Creating wealth in communities and keeping it there.

A development trust is a community organisation that helps improve a local area. It’s run by local people and keeps money and benefits in the community. It’s formally set up, which means it can run projects and manage funding.
