Our Projects
At any one time, we are involved in a number of projects. These are dynamic and reflect the changing needs and opportunities in the community.
Local Place Plan Priorities
CCDT, in partnership with Callander Community Council, advocates for a new pedestrian bridge and access paths which serves the eastern end of Callander, connecting with the schools and McLaren Community Leisure Centre over the River Teith. We work to support Stirling Council in developing this much needed infrastructure.
Through Premises Improvement Grants (from UK Shared Prosperity Fund), CCDT has project managed the painting of some 27 shopfronts along and off Main Street to improve the quality of the environment for visitors and locals alike.
A steering group consisting of representatives of CCDT, Callander Community Council and Callander Flood Group commissioned a design masterplan in January 2025 for the Meadows, Meadows Car Park and Station Car Park to create a sustainable and safe recreational space for residents and visitors.
Looking at these key areas of town under the themes of visitors, flooding, active travel and biodiversity, recommendations for development were made based on thorough baseline research and community consultation. In 2026, CCDT are commissioning further detailed design for the redevelopment of Station Road Car Park into a mobility hub, and project managing the planting of riparian woodland to improve habitat south of the River Teith.
Subprojects: Green Adventure Gateway, Station Road Redevelopment and Callandrade Riparian Planting
CCDT Projects
We run our local Visitor Information Centre. Formerly managed by Visit Scotland, it is now largely staffed by local volunteers who are passionate about welcoming visitors to their home.
A central information point for the community, where residents can drop in to find out what’s on, whom to speak to, or just have a chat. A small meeting space is available for community groups to use for a donation only.
Available to all residents of Callander and the environs, our four ebikes can be hired for between one and four weeks at a time to swap out short car journeys for a greener, healthier mode of travel. With pedal-assist, you can cover greater distances and steeper inclines!
In the centre of town, above the Visitor Information Centre, we run a short-term let apartment which can sleep up to 6 visitors. Completely renovated in 2023.
In order to save this historic K6 kiosk, we adopted this important piece of heritage to clean and repaint it for community use as well as a working defibrillator.
A legacy of the former Callander Landscape Partnership project, CCDT maintains around 100 signposts and interpretation panels in and around Callander.
A partnership of 10 communities across the catchment area of McLaren High School working together to build our collective resilience as a region.
A feasibility project for the community’s acquisition of the Bridgend Callander Primary School (once vacated for the new campus at the High School) and conversion into a Community, Arts, Education and Training Centre.
